Your chauffeur-guide welcomes your family at the airport and transfers you to Colombo. The first day is relaxed, giving children time to rest after the flight before the fun begins, with an easy evening and an early night.

A lighthearted city day designed for children. Depending on ages, this can include go-karting, an indoor play or entertainment centre, a relaxed harbour or Galle Face Green walk, and family-friendly dining.

Today is built around water and nature fun. Options near Colombo include an aquarium-style attraction, a wildlife or bird park, or a water park, chosen to suit your children’s ages and the day’s weather.

It is a relaxed, playful day before the touring route begins.

You travel inland to Kandy, the cultural hill capital. Where suitable, an ethical elephant experience or a relevant nature stop can be included on the way, chosen according to your family’s preferences.

In Kandy you can visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic beside the lake, dressed modestly, and settle into your hotel.

A soft-adventure day. At Kitulgala, the Kelani River offers beginner-friendly rafting sections suited to many active families with older children, always subject to water levels, age, and the operator’s safety rules.

A gentle countryside cycle or nature walk can round out the day before you continue or return to your base. Gentler river sections are available for younger or first-time rafters.

You climb into the cool central highlands, passing tea estates and waterfalls such as Devon and St. Clair’s, which make scenic stops. Nuwara Eliya’s fresh climate, lake, and gardens are a pleasant change for families.

A morning tea plantation and factory visit shows children how Ceylon tea is grown and made. You then enjoy one of Sri Lanka’s most famous experiences — the hill-country train ride toward Ella — through tea fields, tunnels, and mountain scenery.

Leaving the hills, you descend toward Yala, with a stop at the roadside Ravana Falls. In the afternoon a jeep safari in Yala National Park looks for elephants, deer, crocodiles, birdlife, and, possibly, leopards.
