The Itinerary
Your chauffeur-guide meets you at the airport and transfers you to Negombo or Colombo. The first day is shaped around your arrival time, with a relaxed evening to settle in before the journey begins.
You travel into the Cultural Triangle, basing near Sigiriya or Dambulla, with time on arrival to settle in and enjoy the setting before exploring.
An early climb of Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the Dambulla Cave Temple, and a relaxed village experience with a canoe or cart ride and a home-cooked lunch — a varied first taste of the island’s heritage and rural life.
Family Note
The Sigiriya climb is optional; quieter Pidurangala or a viewpoint suits families and those who prefer less climbing.
A morning at the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, or an afternoon jeep safari in Minneriya or Kaudulla to look for wild elephants, depending on the season and your interests.

Elephant activity in Minneriya and Kaudulla is often seasonally strong around July to September; sightings are natural and not guaranteed.
You travel south to Kandy with a Matale spice-garden stop, arriving in the last royal capital, set around a lake in the hills.
